Nancy Hanna has been an integral part of the founding and growth of New Directions over the decades. So much so, that we named our female residential treatment facility after her.
The Nancy Hanna House is vital to providing the care and support that our young people need to build a brighter future. By donating to this campaign, you are investing in the future of our youth and the well-being of our community.
Your support will help fund staff positions and specialized needs for our female clients, greater community outreach, education, and advocacy with our area schools, hospitals, courts, referral agencies, community organizations, and more. We hope you will join with us to ensure that every young person throughout our community gets the help they so desperately need.
Together, we can make a difference. Please give at the link below.
Please help us reach our $1 million goal for Nancy Hanna House.

Since 1981, New Directions has been the only residential, recovery housing/extended therapeutic living, and outpatient treatment program of its kind in Northeast Ohio, serving over 80,000 adolescents and their families. This year, due to so many uncertainties in governmental and agency support, we are reaching out with an urgent appeal to maximize our efforts on long-term sustainability of our gender-specific treatment model. Rather than organizing our annual fundraiser, we are focusing our efforts on maintaining and enhancing our gender-specific treatment and recovery housing/extended therapeutic living facilities for our female residential clients in our Nancy Hanna House facility.
The need for our services has never been greater. Your support is crucial in helping us continue to provide gender-specific treatment and extended therapeutic living facilities for our young people. These programs are essential in addressing the unique needs of young women and ensuring they have the best possible chance at recovery.
We urgently need your help to maintain these vital services. Your generous donation will directly impact the lives of the young people and their families we serve, providing them with the resources and support they need to overcome their challenges and build a brighter future. Thank you for your continued support and generosity! Let’s continue to make our community of Northeast Ohio safer, happier, and healthier for all.

“Can’t recommend enough!”
“I was at this place over 15 years ago back in ‘09. And I would recommend this place to any teen or young adult suffering from addiction. This place helped me in so many ways, not just with my addiction, but also mentally and spiritually. Thank you New Directions for helping me all those years ago.”

“Life changing”
“I was there in 2019 and everyone helped me so much. I am now almost 2 years sober and planning my career into law enforcement or medical field. They helped me so much words can’t describe. I would give anything to speak to any of the counselors, assistants, or teachers again. Even 2 years sober I miss every moment of being there. The people who helped me, and the kids I was with, changed me forever. 5 stars to the facility. 5 stars to the staff. And remember, god grant me the serenity. Miss everyone with all my heart.”

“As always—thank you and the wonderful staff for helping our daughters recover from their addictions. They are wonderful people, in healthy relationships and productive members of society. What more can a parent ask!?”
2023
“We recently spoke to one of our alumni parents who shared with us a heartfelt message about how grateful her family is for New Directions’ evidence-based, trauma-informed care when they were struggling and in crisis. She detailed how well her daughter is doing today and how this profound change began at New Directions. She praised New Directions staff who coordinated so much with her daughter’s school and how she came out of New Directions actually ahead of the class. She described the new world of possibilities that opened up for their daughter and family.”

“She was able to graduate high school and get her diploma! We are so grateful for the time she spent at New Directions, and all the progress she made there toward her high school graduation. Thanks again for all you’ve done for our family, and keep up the good work!”

“I just wanted to let you know that I am doing really good. I work at a pharmacy and I start my second job after I GRADUATE in 29 days. I wanted to say thank you for everything for being so patient and supportive when I was at the lowest stage of life.”

“You helped us all along the way… and it led me back to you to help your young people on their own voyages.”
2020
“In conjunction with the Hillcrest Rotary Club and Community Partnership on Aging, several of our young clients repaired and refinished a broken-down, rusted storage shed for a senior citizen in our community. The homeowner, and our civic partners, remarked how proud they are of the boys and how grateful they are for such a thoughtful contribution to make a vulnerable, senior citizen’s life a little better.”

“I will never forget the treatment specialists and therapists who believed in me when no one else did. I will also never forget how humbling it was to know that there were kids my age struggling with much more serious addictions. Luckily, I gained control. New Directions changed my life and there will always be a special place in my heart for that program.”

“These kids are the future. And they deserve every ounce of support that we can give them. Thank you for giving your all to children in need. Know that it may mean the world to them, just as it did for our son — someone who remembers his treatment specialists’ names, even after 14 years.”

“We hope every family has a great an outcome as our family. Thank you! Our son … was in your program when he was in high school and a heroin addict. New Directions saved his life. Then: He went to college… Married his high school sweetheart. Got a job selling insurance… paid for him to get his insurance license & take the insurance courses. He was recruited by another company to sell insurance and is still there doing quite well. He and his wife bought a beautiful home near all family (within 10 miles). He has a beautiful daughter… and a happy son (4 months). Thank you! Wish we could do more.”
